We left L`viv after an loverly breakfast and only a 200 click ride to the border , 100 of which would be through the Carpathian mountains , the weather could`nt make its mind up but in the end was ok , great ride in the mountains and as we were going to the southern border crossing very little traffic,

This border crossing is not used to seeing Brits here so it caused a bit of chaos, but it still only took about an hour , the Hungarian side we just sailed through , then it started to piss down , you need a vignette for here so popped into Tesco changed money and also got our vignette .We had planned on a wild camp but found a hotel for 10 euro a night each sorted !

As Rob was meeting his girlfriend in Budapest thats were we would part company we both planned our respective routes , oh and had beer and pizza

next day was dry and a fast ride to Buda, were we parted company, seams strange not to see rob in my mirrors ,

60 CLICKS out and a great early morning ride into the city ,, straight to the GEORGE HOTEL were the girls just said welcome back MR ZEBB “god you smell and fixed us up with a room (and a great shower ) ,The staff at the George are the best in the world , seams to be some football do on , we are the only Brits bar one Gordie ,so are the local celeb`s

We were told of a local bar that was styled on a underground resistance bunker , you just knock on the door a hatch opens and you have to say the password ,,, if you got it right the armed guard opens up gives you a shot of the local hooch and your in , IT`S REALLY COOOOL

Travel Posted on Sun, June 24, 2012 17:02:21

Fantastic place just watch out for traffic police ,, FIRST NIGHT was the noisest wild camp i have ever stayed in (next to a coal mine ) and the coal crushing machine so up early and a 700 click ride to a motel which was a knocking shop, but less noise than a coal mine ,,

next day 600 clicks in and down a track to a lake camp , it looked ok at first every one friendly ,,just as Rob said the words THIS LOOKS QUIET ENOUGH everyone came out of the bushes, it rapidly turned into chaos The total lack of woman got me thinking what have we got into here the head man said dont worry i am security ???? lifts his t shirt and pats his gun holster !!!! it was empty“` more chaos as they all hunted for the lost gun (meanwhile the pissed up local village idiot was trying to shoot off his own toes) turned out to be a Ukrainian drinking den (dualing banjoes were running in our heads as we got the fuck out of Dodge)!! ended up in the usual car park

We never got any pulles from the police , they seam to have all got new cars and uniforms (i think me and Henry bought them with all the money they reamed out of us last year )

Leaving Moscow was the usual 3 ring circus , maddness ,, but i loved it , the road was long and hot and we expected it to last 2 days, after many near misses with usual kamaz trucks we eventualy set up camp in a disused car park which seams to be the theme for this trip

The easy-est crossing ever 45mins, the insurance , took longer .

5 clicks in and it was a dirt road for 40kms but it was a good one only had to contend with the dust from 40 ton artics hammering towards you ,

a hard night in a Russian forest saw us hideing from the bugs in our tents Rob doesn`t beleave siberia is worse ,(but i declined to prove it to him on this trip)

Big thing for me i saw two wolves in the early hours of the morning first wild wolves i had ever seen ( they were a bit mingin though )

400 clicks to Moscow in a thunder storm and plenty of road works, we arrived at the Hotel soaked to the skin and covered in mud, reception just smiled and said welcome back zebb

Travel Posted on Sat, June 16, 2012 16:27:28

Crossed into latvia and the roads went down hill , i forgot how small a country it was,

stopped in a small village about 20 clicks from the northern border, we decided to hide in plane sight and put the tents up on a grass verge at the enternce to the village it wasn`t long befor the kids were over and rob went and played football with them (he was hammered ) Tony pettie from sebeski extream recomended the border crossing and he was right , 45mins and a lot of help you can also get insurance in the petrol station on the right after you get through the last barrier
